Dear Adam / 24 Weeks
Dear Adam,
It's hard to say how social media will look when you are old enough to care, and whether it'll even register to you that I have this blog where I documented my pregnancy with Grayson on a weekly basis (or at least, tried to!) and have only written about my pregnancy with you twice in 24 weeks. I hope you never care and are too busy with your own little life to be concerned with Mommy's blog or Facebook. But if you ever do notice or wonder, I want you to know that it is not for lack of interest or love or excitement. When Mommy is busy or tired and her attention is divided, it is not a reflection of my feelings about you. I feel like I should say that since, blogging aside, I'm sure that will be relevant in many other areas of life as we move forward as a family of 4!
We just finished up the Christmas season. Did you enjoy it? You may have noticed an increase in tasty food which, hopefully, did not cause any developmental issues for you! Sugar is bad for you, but it's also delicious. I'm sure you'll understand this struggle one day, when you're old enough to care about the bad for you part! You may have heard lots of friendly voices and laughter. We saw so many people who already love you so much! We had a Christmas party with our small group who you'll meet soon upon your arrival, including your Godparents John and Olivia! We visited with your Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Shannon and your cousin Alex, MawMaw (your great-great grandma!), Great-Grandpa, more cousins, Grammie, PopPop (you have two of those...I know it's confusing. You can blame Grayson for that one), Auntie, and GG. Yes, it's a lot to keep up with, but you'll know them very well soon!
I have been feeling you moving and kicking around a lot lately. Maybe it's all that sugar I was talking about! We're still waiting for Daddy to feel you kick. You kick your brother pretty much every time I rock him, but I don't think he has really noticed yet. I know it's getting cramped having both of you in my lap like that, but I have to admit it's nice to feel both of my little boys so close at the same time! I don't know how often that can happen once your fragile little body is out and about and your crazy brother is jumping around like he does. I know you're well aware of this...you've probably been jabbed by him as much as he has by you! Maybe it's a brother thing.
Everything about you is perfect. The doctors told me so, so I know it's not just my bias! But I'm sure I'll be saying that for years to come, whether by fact or opinion! Daddy and I saw you on the ultrasound today and your profile was precious and even though you'll always look a little like a skeletor in those ultrasounds, I can already tell how absolutely adorable you are!
You seem to be a bit of a night owl, as I feel your movements more in the evenings and when I go to bed at night. I know this is fairly common, but I have to tell you, I'm really hoping you aren't one of those darling newborns who come out with your days and nights all mixed up! I've survived this sleepless nights thing for a long time now, and Grayson still likes to keep me on my toes every now and then, just so I don't get rusty on it. But I'm really crossing my fingers that you'll be an excellent sleeper from the start. And while we're at it, if you want to be a good eater too, I wouldn't object. Wouldn't it be cool to have those things as leverage over your brother?? Oh boy, that's probably not a good Mommy move to suggest competitions like that. But another thing you'll probably need to know...sleep deprivation makes you do crazy things! Keep that in mind...just in case!
I wonder about you all the time. What are you like, little boy? What color eyes and hair will you have? Will you even have hair? Will you have more hair than Grayson does even now?? It could happen! Will you startle easily or will you be so used to the chaos of our lives that you're the most laid-back Curley there ever was? (Just FYI - they aren't a very laid-back bunch. You'll see what I mean.)
I've been feeling pretty good lately, aside from some very normal aches and pains. And sure, I would like to be able to hop off the couch or roll over in bed without making a big thing of it, but it's a small price to pay for a lifetime as your Mommy! Next month I'll have my glucose test to check for Gestational Diabetes. I'm praying that being pregnant during Thanksgiving and Christmas doesn't have any impact on that! We'll also have our 3D ultrasound so Daddy and I can see you in more detail. Remember to show us your best side!
Daddy and I can't wait to meet you in person. It really will be so soon! Time goes by so quickly...you will be here before we know it! We love you so much and pray for you often! You may have heard Grayson repeatedly say, "Jesus loves me." Well, He loves you too littlest boy! And I'm thanking Him for letting me take care of you, and counting on Him to help you grow strong and healthy each and every day.
I hope you have a great rest of your day. Stay warm and cozy!
Love,
Mommy
